Brampton, Suffolk, was shaken by a distressing incident as Allison Riches, a resident of the area, discovered her beloved pet cat, Peanut, in a grievous condition. Peanut, a 20-month-old feline companion, was found on Wednesday evening, immobile in the hind legs.
A veterinarian who examined the injured animal expressed concerns that the injuries sustained were indicative of a deliberate act of cruelty, suggesting Peanut may have been subjected to kicking or stamping.
Tragically, due to the severity of Peanut’s injuries, the family made the heart-wrenching decision to euthanize the young cat. The cat had suffered damage to its tail, spine, and bowel, bearing a telltale mark on its fur resembling an imprint caused by a boot.
Mrs. Riches, residing with her husband and two grandsons, shared her profound dismay, stating, “I felt sick to think there is a person who can actually do that to an animal.”
In the face of this distressing incident, the local community rallied behind the Riches family, extending their support and even raising funds for a reward aimed at encouraging individuals with information to come forward.
Suffolk Police have launched an investigation into the incident and have urged any witnesses or those possessing vital information to reach out directly, emphasizing the importance of bringing those responsible for this alleged act of cruelty to justice.
