Winnipeg, A devastating fire in the Waverley Heights neighborhood on Friday night resulted in the tragic loss of three dogs and one cat. Emergency responders were summoned to a residence on Quincy Bay at approximately 9:34 p.m. on Friday, as reported by the City of Winnipeg in a press release. Fortunately, there were no human occupants inside the house at the time of the fire. Paramedics assessed one individual at the scene, but no hospitalization was deemed necessary.
Once the fire was brought under control and the scene was safe, firefighters entered the residence in a courageous effort to locate the pets. Tragically, they discovered the lifeless bodies of three dogs and one cat.
The intense blaze was successfully contained by firefighting teams around 10:12 p.m., but the loss of beloved pets cast a somber shadow over the neighborhood.
In a separate incident, hours later, emergency crews were summoned to respond to another house fire in Winnipeg’s North End. Firefighters valiantly battled a blaze on Powers Street, commencing at approximately 3:37 a.m. on Saturday morning, according to the city’s release. The fire was subsequently brought under control at around 4:01 a.m.
The causes of both fires are presently under investigation, and damage estimates remain unavailable, as disclosed in the official statement from the City of Winnipeg.
