In a peculiar turn of events, a young family was forced to evacuate their Wigan residence due to an early morning kitchen fire that was inadvertently triggered by one of their pet cats.
According to reports, the domestic cat was innocently traversing the kitchen work surfaces in the house located on Heather Grove, Worsley Hall, when its paw accidentally activated the touch control of the halogen hob. In an unfortunate coincidence, the owners had unintentionally left the cooker turned on at the wall. Moreover, a stack of cardboard boxes had been placed atop the hob, and the heat generated by the activated hob caused the boxes to catch fire.
The unexpected blaze prompted the family to swiftly exit their home for safety. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining proper safety measures, even in seemingly harmless situations involving household appliances and pets.
