FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Following the disturbing case of a local cat named Noodles being shot twice with a pellet gun, PETA is launching a new video campaign aimed at encouraging pet owners to keep their cats indoors. The video features a man on his porch who initially seems relaxed, but his demeanor turns sinister as he slowly pulls out a firearm and takes aim at a meowing cat off-screen. The chilling video ends with a strong message urging pet owners to protect their cats by keeping them inside.
The attack on Noodles has prompted an investigation by Franklin Township police. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover Noodles’ significant veterinary expenses. “The outdoors can be a dangerous place for cats,” says PETA Senior Vice President Daphna Nachminovitch. “Cats who are allowed to roam are often perceived as a nuisance, leading to harmful and sometimes fatal consequences.”
PETA emphasizes that outdoor cats are at risk of various dangers, including abuse, parasites, diseases, car accidents, and attacks from predators. The organization urges pet owners to keep their cats indoors, where they can be safe from these threats. PETA also recommends enriching indoor environments with cat trees, toys, and a window view to help cats remain mentally and physically stimulated.
This video is part of PETA’s broader campaign, which highlights similar incidents of cruelty towards outdoor cats in other cities, including Blaine, Minnesota, and El Paso, Texas. The organization stresses that keeping cats inside is not just a matter of protection, but also of compassion. PETA offers resources such as a “cat guardian’s bible” and a guide for building catios to help create safe, enriching spaces for indoor cats.
