A woman from Orange County has been reunited with her beloved cat, Clubber, nearly a week after he was stolen from her home, police confirmed on Thursday. However, the suspect in the theft remains at large.
Surveillance footage captured the moment a man took Clubber, a 10-month-old Bengal Lynx cat, from outside the Westminster home on the evening of March 21.
Eva Corlew, the cat’s owner, explained to KTLA that Clubber was sitting underneath her boyfriend’s car when a stranger approached and took him. The footage from Corlew’s home security camera showed a man at the end of the driveway trying to lure Clubber, possibly with food. When the cat approached, the man quickly grabbed him and fled in a white pickup truck, possibly a Toyota Tacoma.
Corlew returned home late that night and discovered Clubber missing the next morning. After starting her search, she noticed the AirTag attached to Clubber’s collar was stationary and soon located it outside near her driveway.
Corlew reported the incident to police, began sharing the information on social media, and even went door-to-door in her neighborhood to find her cat.
On March 27, the Westminster Police Department provided an update, saying they had received a tip that Clubber was at a home in Santa Ana. Officers arrived to find the cat safe and unharmed and reunited him with Corlew.
The theft is still under investigation, and authorities continue their search for the suspect. The police are asking the public to help identify the suspect and his vehicle.
Detectives described the suspect as a man, possibly between 40 to 50 years old, 6 feet tall with a medium build. At the time of the theft, he was wearing a long-sleeved orange shirt, black jeans, and a white hat.
