An Arkansas man has been arrested on multiple charges, including animal cruelty, after authorities discovered 38 cats living in unsanitary conditions at a Blytheville home.
On March 24, the Blytheville Police Department (BPD) executed a search warrant at a residence on South Franklin Street after receiving reports of a 92-year-old woman living in what were described as “deplorable conditions.” Police later determined that the woman’s 61-year-old son was living with her and acting as her designated caretaker.
During the investigation, which involved the BPD, Blytheville Fire Department, and multiple animal care services, officials discovered 38 cats inside the home, one of which had unfortunately passed away due to the conditions.
As a result of the findings, the 61-year-old man was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of an incompetent person, cruelty to animals, and violating Blytheville City Ordinance #1651. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 25.
