A shocking discovery at the Eau Claire Community Humane Association this week brought eight new cats to the shelter.
On Tuesday, an Eau Claire animal control officer arrived at the shelter with a stray animal. Upon checking the donation box outside, they were surprised to find eight cats inside. The cats were promptly brought into the shelter, where they are now being cared for and are safe.
Addie Erdmann, the shelter’s marketing and development coordinator, emphasized the importance of calling ahead when surrendering a pet. While the shelter does have a fee and a waitlist, Erdmann explained that they are flexible, as the primary goal is to care for animals in need.
“Luckily, these cats seem to get along well with each other—they’re sweet and social,” Erdmann said. “However, when we receive stray or abandoned animals, we often have no information about their behaviors, preferences, or any potential medical issues they may have.”
The eight cats have been named after Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, as they are all expected to receive a happy, fairytale ending. Erdmann mentioned that the cats should be ready for adoption early next week.
