Over the weekend, every cat at the Saginaw County Animal Care & Control (SCACC) found a home during its St. Patrick’s Day pet adoption event.
On Saturday, March 15, the shelter announced on Facebook that its last eight cats were adopted, marking the first time in the shelter’s history that its cat adoption room was empty.
SCACC expressed gratitude to its rescue partners who had taken in nearly 40 cats over the past two weeks. The shelter also thanked its staff and volunteers for their hard work in making the event a success.
To continue their efforts, SCACC is reaching out to individuals on its waitlist and other local rescue partners to assist with placing more cats.
On Monday, March 17, the shelter’s director reported that new cats were arriving. People were dropping off cats on Monday and Tuesday, March 18, to refill the shelter’s cages.
The director also shared that cats from the waitlist and those vetted by local rescues would be coming in on Tuesday. The shelter’s veterinarian would be present to administer vaccines and conduct exams. SCACC assured that its cat adoption room wouldn’t stay empty while the team prepared more cats for adoption.
