While most of us leave our pets at home, it’s always a bit worrying not knowing what might happen while we’re out. However, on Saturday, March 8th, one man took his adorable Siamese cat with him to a roller rink, creating an unforgettable and amusing sight.
Captured on video, the cat made its appearance at Skate City in Fargo, North Dakota. As the rink was bustling with activity on a Saturday night, the sight of the cat skating along on its owner’s shoulder was truly a unique addition.
Though the cat may not belong to the person who filmed the video, locals were quick to identify the man and his cat. According to several residents, the man, known as Joe, is somewhat of a local legend, frequently taking his cat, Chugs, on various outings — including a trip to buy a bow and arrows.
Joe himself chimed in via the comments, revealing that he brought Chugs to the rink without expecting to be allowed in. The rink, however, permitted the pair to stay for about 45 minutes until Joe wiped out and Chugs got loose. After that, they decided it was time to leave, but they had a great time nonetheless.
While Joe’s adventurous spirit is admirable, it’s important to note that he might not be the best role model for bringing pets into public spaces. Although Chugs was wearing a harness, his leash was dangling loose, which worked fine until the cat slipped away.
For anyone thinking of bringing their cat to a public space, it’s crucial to check ahead, as many places that welcome dogs may not have the same policy for cats. Cats tend to behave differently, and are often seen as less manageable and more “invasive” than dogs. Always call ahead to confirm if cats are allowed.
