A Maine Coon cat owner shares the hilarious antics of her own orange cat, Meatball, whose insatiable appetite mirrors that of Teddy, an orange Maine Coon featured in a viral TikTok video. Much like Teddy, Meatball is always hungry, often stealing food not only from his own bowl but also from his cat sibling, the family dog, and even from his owner’s snacks while she’s watching Love is Blind on Netflix.
Meatball has a particular fondness for treats like Goldfish crackers, pizza, and M&Ms, often sneaking over to his owner to use his large paws, referred to as “murder mittens,” to grab food directly from her bowl or even from her mouth. As Maine Coons don’t stop growing until they reach about four years of age, their appetite is as big as their size, which is why Meatball’s constant hunger is no surprise.
This same insatiable hunger is on display in the video of Teddy, posted on the TikTok account @Teddywiththumbs. In the footage, Teddy, a large orange Maine Coon, fiercely clings to a package of Boar’s Head lunch meat, refusing to give it back to his owner.
The video’s viewers can’t help but sympathize with Teddy, who seems absolutely fixated on the ham, a treat that many would agree is hard to resist. The cat’s owner may have expected typical Maine Coon behavior, but Teddy’s persistence is particularly amusing.
While jokingly suggesting that Teddy is “super malnourished” and should be given his own Honey Baked Ham, it’s clear that Teddy is well cared for and not lacking in meals. His love for ham, however, is undeniable, and anyone who has witnessed a Maine Coon’s appetite would agree—who can blame him?
