This year has already been a milestone for Abby Cat Daddy, as the feline rescue society recently received its charitable status. Founder Logan Bryan expressed that this achievement opens up new possibilities for the organization.
One of the significant benefits of becoming a registered charity is that contributions to the shelter are now tax-deductible, which is expected to encourage even more people to support the cause.
“I’m incredibly excited about how this will enhance our impact on the community, and I want to personally thank every individual who has supported us,” Bryan said. “We couldn’t have reached this point without you—thank you.”
To mark this achievement, Abby Cat Daddy also launched its first fundraiser as an official charity, kicking off a new online silent auction on February 25.
The auction features over $2,000 worth of items, including event tickets and locally-made artwork. All proceeds from the auction will go toward the shelter’s operational expenses. Bryan outlined how the funds will be allocated:
25% will support the expansion of the Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program.
Another 25% will cover medical expenses for the cats housed at the shelter.
The remaining 50% will go toward the development of a thrift store and adoption center fund.
This ongoing fund will help Abby Cat Daddy establish a new combined adoption center and shelter to better serve the needs of cats in Abbotsford and surrounding communities.
