Animal Protection Officers and shelter staff worked through the night to rescue 59 cats from a single home, adding to the increasing number of felines the shelter has taken in recently.
In recent months, Pima County has faced a surge in large-scale animal rescue cases, resulting in hundreds of cats being brought to the shelter. The shelter is now bracing for another impound of 20 to 25 cats.
The shelter is urgently calling for fosters and adopters to help provide homes for the cats in their care. “By offering a temporary home to a kitty in need, you’re saving lives,” said a shelter representative.
For those who are unable to foster or adopt, the shelter also welcomes donations, particularly cat food and litter. These can be dropped off at the shelter or ordered online via their Amazon wishlist.
