Nine Lives Cat Lounge and Adoption Center is hosting a unique event to help cats find their forever homes—through art. The “Pet Pet Paint” event offered an exciting painting experience for young artists.
Children aged 8 to 13 participated in the step-by-step, cat-themed painting class. The $12 admission fee covered the cost of art supplies, canvases, and paint, with all proceeds going directly back to Nine Lives to provide medical care, food, and other needs for the cats.
This month’s art project featured a painting of a cat perched on an outdoor fence with the sun setting in the background. While the children worked on their paintings, they also had the chance to pet and play with the cats in the lounge, adding a fun and interactive element to the event.
10-year-old Elizabeth Branton shared her enthusiasm for trying something new. “My favorite part was all the colors and pulling them out because I’m not very good at painting, but I’m very good at drawing. And it’s fun,” she said.
Jessi Medeiros, a board member of Nine Lives Cat Rescue, expressed the importance of such events in the community. “You’re just getting involved with the community, kids doing the crafting, and it brings exposure to the cats. Adoption is our number one goal, so any exposure is a win-win,” she explained.
Medeiros also announced that the organization plans to host the “Pet Pet Paint” event once a month to help cover the costs of caring for the cats and to promote their adoption.
