Tension flared in Natraj Nagar on Wednesday morning after meat was discovered inside a temple within the jurisdiction of the Tappachabutra police station.
Upon receiving the alert, the police swiftly formed four investigative teams, with senior officers visiting the scene to evaluate the situation. Authorities examined CCTV footage from nearby areas to trace how the meat had found its way into the temple.
“During the investigation, footage from the temple’s north-facing camera clearly showed a cat carrying a piece of meat in its mouth and entering the premises. This video evidence confirmed that the cat was responsible for placing the meat,” the police explained.
Before the authorities could confirm the origin of the meat, news of the discovery sparked protests from local residents. The situation was eventually brought under control after officials clarified the findings.
The police urged the public to avoid spreading rumors or misinformation about the incident. “Given the evidence, we ask the public to remain calm,” stated SHO A Ramulu.
In the wake of the incident, Endowments Minister Konda Surekha instructed officials to conduct a thorough inquiry and provide a detailed report on the matter.
