A mischievous feline is making headlines after causing a two-day delay on a Ryanair flight by sneaking aboard and refusing to vacate the plane.
The Boeing 737 was scheduled to fly from Rome to Germany last week when the crew heard a strange meowing sound just before takeoff, according to Jam Press.
Maintenance workers were called in and removed several panels from the aircraft. They soon discovered the curious stowaway— a black-and-white kitten—hiding in the plane’s electrical bay.
Photos from the incident show the kitten peeking out from its hiding spot, resembling a scene straight out of a “Snakes On A Plane” sequel.
The flight crew’s efforts to remove the kitten were not immediately successful. The kitten retreated deeper into the plane’s wiring, forcing the flight to be canceled for safety reasons.
To track the kitten’s whereabouts, the crew removed additional panels, but the feline kept relocating around the aircraft, turning the situation into a game of “whack-a-meow.”
Finally, the adventurous kitty decided to leave on its own, walking through an open door, down the stairs, and across the runway—otherwise known as its personal “catwalk.”
As a result of this unexpected passenger, the flight was grounded for two full days before it could finally head to its destination. While it may seem extreme, sources explained that the feline’s presence could have caused significant safety concerns at 30,000 feet and cost the airline thousands of dollars.
This isn’t the first time a feline has caused trouble on an aircraft. In 2021, a flight from Khartoum, Sudan, to Qatar was forced to return to its departure point after a loose cat attacked the pilot shortly after takeoff.
