In an odd yet amusing turn of events in southwestern China’s Chongqing municipality, a woman lost her job and year-end bonus after her pet cat accidentally sent a resignation email to her boss. The 25-year-old woman, who owns nine cats, had drafted the resignation email on January 5 but never intended to send it, as she relied on the job to support her furry companions.
The mishap occurred when the woman briefly left her desk, leaving the email draft open on her laptop. Surveillance footage later showed one of her cats jumping onto the desk and accidentally hitting the “send” button.
Despite immediately reaching out to her employer to explain the bizarre situation, her efforts proved unsuccessful. As a result, she not only lost her job but also forfeited the year-end bonus she had been counting on. The woman shared her predicament on social media, revealing plans to search for a new job after the Spring Festival and stressing her financial need to care for her cats.
The incident quickly gained attention online, with many commenters finding humor in the cat’s unexpected involvement in the woman’s career situation. One user quipped, “Listen to your cat master,” while another humorously suggested the feline had saved the company some money by sending the resignation.
