Two gardai are being commended for their quick actions to help a cat shelter in a remote part of County Clare, ensuring it didn’t run out of food and essential supplies during the current cold snap.
According to a social media post, Garda Yvonne Brady and Garda Michael Haugh from Ennistymon Garda Station were contacted earlier this week about an elderly woman living near Connolly who operates the An Cat Dubh Cat Sanctuary.
“The sanctuary cares for over 160 cats, and due to the severe weather and poor road conditions, she was quickly running out of supplies,” the post on Instagram explained.
The gardai were happy to step in and deliver essential items, including cat food, litter, and supplies for the woman running the shelter.
A spokesperson for the Gardaí added, “If you or anyone you know needs help or support, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.”
