RSPCA officers, along with a kind-hearted bystander, came to the rescue of a cat named Simba, who had become trapped between two brick walls in Innaloo.
It is believed that Simba was stuck for as long as 24 hours, according to Lou Rowe from RSPCA WA.
The animal rescue team sprang into action as soon as they received the distress call on Thursday.
“Our inspectors were called to a home in Innaloo yesterday, where a cat named Simba was trapped in a 3-inch gap between two brick walls,” Ms Rowe explained.
The rescue operation was not without its challenges, as there were concerns that pulling too hard could injure Simba.
However, a compassionate bricklayer working nearby stepped in to help, carefully removing some of the bricks to make way for the RSPCA officers.
“Thanks to the bricklayer’s help, our inspectors were able to free Simba,” Ms Rowe said.
Once rescued, Simba was quickly taken to a vet for a check-up, where a small graze on her foot was discovered.
“The vet found that Simba’s body temperature was low, and she had some minor injuries, but otherwise she was in good condition,” Ms Rowe added.
After an ordeal that lasted a couple of days, Simba is now safely back home, enjoying much-needed rest and affection.
