Cats and Christmas trees have often been at odds. Many pet owners know all too well the chaos a curious feline can bring to a holiday tree—climbing it, knocking it over, swatting at ornaments, and generally creating mayhem.
But Fancy Feast is aiming to change that with a new innovation. To mark the brand’s 40th anniversary of Feastivities, Fancy Feast has introduced the FeastiviTREE, a specially designed holiday tree that is both visually appealing and durable enough to withstand the antics of playful cats.
At first glance, the FeastiviTREE looks like a standard artificial Christmas tree. However, Fancy Feast has made several key design improvements to ensure it’s more suitable for households with cats.
The FeastiviTREE sits on a sturdy wooden base that serves as a built-in cat condo, offering felines a place to rest and play without disturbing the rest of the holiday decorations. Unlike typical artificial trees, this one is designed to encourage climbing and exploration. The tree features integrated cat perches, allowing cats to climb and lounge safely within the tree’s structure. Additionally, the tree comes with cat-friendly ornaments that won’t break when batted by curious paws.
“Cats are naturally drawn to holiday trees because they are visually stimulating and full of movement, which appeals to their instincts,” said Dr. Annie Valuska, a principal behaviorist at Purina, in a statement. “The FeastiviTREE incorporates all the things cats love about traditional trees but in a way that is safe and enjoyable for them.”
Fancy Feast will give away three of these festive, cat-friendly trees. Pet parents can enter the contest until December 3rd for a chance to win one at feastivities.com.
In addition to the FeastiviTREE, Fancy Feast is also releasing a special 40th Anniversary ornament. The ornament doubles as a working music box, featuring the brand’s iconic Fancy Feast cat. Cat parents can purchase this limited-edition ornament for a minimum donation of $5 to RedRover, a nonprofit supporting the Purple Leash Project, which helps create safe spaces for people affected by domestic violence and their pets.
With the FeastiviTREE, Fancy Feast is offering a solution to the age-old problem of cats and Christmas trees—allowing both felines and their owners to enjoy the holiday season without the stress of worrying about toppled trees or broken ornaments.
