SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — On Wednesday morning, the Sioux City Animal Adoption and Rescue Center received a distressing call regarding five kittens found abandoned in a dumpster on the 800 block of 9th Street. The alert came around 9 a.m. when employees from a local garbage hauling company heard faint meowing while collecting trash in the area.
Upon investigation, the workers discovered the five kittens tied up in a plastic bag. Tragically, four of the kittens did not survive the ordeal, but one kitten, named Grace, was rescued and is now receiving care. Grace, approximately two weeks old, is reportedly stable after being found covered in grease and debris.
Cindy Rarrat from the rescue center stated, “The kitten is stabilized. She came in, and it was full of grease and debris; she was screaming. It’s a good thing she did, because had she not screamed, the hauling company probably wouldn’t have heard her, and she would have likely perished.”
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the person responsible for this incident to contact the Sioux City Animal Adoption and Rescue Center at 712-279-6968.
