DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — On October 8, 2024, the Humane Society of Greater Dayton took in 17 cats and kittens as part of its ongoing hurricane relief initiatives.
These animals were rescued from a homeless animal shelter in Georgia that faced significant challenges due to Hurricane Helene. The shelter anticipates accepting more animals in the upcoming weeks, including dogs and puppies, as the need for assistance grows.
The successful transport of these animals was made possible through a partnership with national animal welfare organizations.
“We are committed to helping animals in need, regardless of their location,” stated Brian Weltge, President and CEO of the Humane Society of Greater Dayton.
