In an adorable turn of events, two playful kittens have taken the internet by storm after being caught on video playing air hockey. The viral clip, shared by TikTok user @misunderstoodapricot, has garnered over 11 million views, delighting viewers with the unexpected competition.
Paige, the owner of the kittens, had set up an old air hockey table at home, assuming her family and friends might enjoy it. To her surprise, it wasn’t the humans who showed interest but her kittens, Ru and Loa, who became the stars of the tabletop game.
The viral clip, posted on September 16, 2024, shows the two kittens stationed at either end of the air hockey table in what can only be described as feline goalie positions. As the puck glided across the surface, the kittens stayed alert, each waiting for the other’s move.
Though they had different playing styles, both kitties displayed impressive defensive skills. One kitten approached the game more delicately, gently batting at the puck, while the other was prepared for a more aggressive play as soon as the puck came close. The result was a back-and-forth match that left viewers enthralled.
Screenshots from the video have been widely shared online, with many marveling at the unexpected display of skill and focus. Paige explained in a follow-up post that the kittens are sisters who were rescued as strays. She affectionately described Ru as an “orange cat disguised as a grey cat,” with a knack for basketball, while Loa has earned the title of “professional puppy guarder.”
Given the overwhelming response, Paige has promised to share weekly videos of Ru and Loa’s air hockey antics. Fans won’t have to wait long for more action, as she plans to livestream a match between the two this Thursday night.
