The RSPCA is seeking information after a six-month-old kitten, Ivy, returned home in Slough with several unexplained injuries, including a missing portion of her ear and bruising on various parts of her body.
Ivy, a tabby cat with brown and black fur, was found limping back to her home on Lynch Hill Lane on Sunday. Her owner, Muhammed Husayn, discovered that the tip of her right ear had been cleanly cut, and her side had been shaved. The young cat also exhibited bruising on her abdomen, tail, and bottom, leaving her in significant pain, according to the vet who examined her.
In an effort to raise awareness, Mr. Husayn urged other local pet owners to be cautious. “We want to warn other cat owners in the area to be careful,” he said. “It was such a shock to us—this isn’t something we ever expected to happen, especially here.”
RSPCA chief inspector Rob Hartley called the injuries “concerning,” noting that Ivy’s condition has raised questions about how the injuries occurred.
The vet confirmed that Ivy’s right ear had been cut in a straight line and that the bruising, along with the shaved fur under her tail, suggested she had been through a traumatic ordeal. Mr. Husayn added that Ivy had been unable to move her tail since the incident but is now on pain medication and gradually returning to her normal behavior.
“She’s getting plenty of rest and, fortunately, in the past few days, has been acting more like herself,” Mr. Husayn said.
The RSPCA is appealing to anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the Lynch Hill Lane area on Sunday afternoon or early evening to come forward with information.
