Sacramento’s Front Street Animal Shelter is offering a $20 adoption special as part of the Clear the Shelters initiative, in an effort to find homes for the overwhelming number of kittens arriving during the region’s peak kitten season.
Speaking to KCRA 3, Ryan Hinderman, a representative from the shelter, explained the urgent need for adoptions, describing the situation as, “Even though the forecast hasn’t shown rain, it has been raining kittens at the shelter.” This metaphor highlights the influx of kittens, which typically occurs between April and October, a period commonly referred to as kitten season.
The discounted adoption offer, aimed at easing the burden on shelters, will run until September 13. Those interested in adopting a furry friend can take advantage of this reduced fee to give one of the many cats a forever home.
The Front Street Animal Shelter hopes the campaign will encourage more people to adopt and help alleviate the pressure on local shelters during this busy time.
