Chicago, September 4, 2024 — In a heartwarming twist, a missing cat from Chicago has been found in Florida and is on her way back to her original owner.
Marble, the feline in question, was discovered wandering the grounds of Ladybug Farm Sanctuary in Odessa, located northwest of Tampa. Volunteers at the sanctuary spotted Marble due to her collar and promptly scanned for a microchip. The chip linked the cat to Triple R Pets, a nonprofit organization based in Western Springs, Illinois.
The investigation revealed Marble’s intriguing journey. Originally adopted from an Illinois farm, Marble was given away as a kitten. She ended up with a young man involved in horse racing, who traveled extensively. Marble’s travels took her from Minnesota to Florida. However, the young man returned to Chicago, leaving Marble behind with another caretaker.
Ladybug volunteer Ronda Lang described the situation: “The young man took Marble to various tracks and eventually brought her to Florida, but when he returned to Chicago, he left her with someone else.”
The good news is Marble will soon be reunited with her original owner, who is thrilled to welcome her back after years apart. The journey home began on Wednesday when a Triple R Pets volunteer, who is also a flight attendant, escorted Marble to Midway International Airport. A second volunteer, who had fostered Marble as a kitten, will pick her up from the airport and ensure her safe return to the farm.
This touching story underscores the importance of pet identification and the dedication of volunteers working tirelessly to reunite lost pets with their families.
