Everett, Wash.— A devastating fire tore through a triplex in Everett on Wednesday, displacing five residents and tragically claiming the lives of two family cats.
The Everett Fire Department received an emergency call reporting a fire at a residence in the 400 block of 45th St. SW. Upon arrival, crews were met with thick smoke visible from Mukilteo Blvd., signaling the severity of the blaze.
Firefighters battled the intense flames, but the damage was extensive, leading to the collapse of the roof. Despite the destruction, all five occupants managed to escape unharmed.
The American Red Cross is currently assisting the displaced residents as they cope with the loss of their home and beloved pets.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Everett Fire Department.
