A heartwarming bond between a rehomed stray cat and its older feline sibling has captured the hearts of millions online.
The stray, adopted as a kitten, was seen mirroring every move of her older male cat sibling in a video that has since gone viral. The endearing footage, recorded on a household pet cam, was shared on TikTok by user @99centnuggets on June 5. The video has garnered over 4.5 million views and more than 1.2 million likes.
In the clip, the younger cat is shown closely following her older sibling’s every action, from walking toward a display unit to stretching, sitting on the floor, and eventually walking in the opposite direction. The on-screen text reads, “POV: The stray cat you brought home as a kitten copies everything your older cat does.”
Dr. Mikel Maria Delgado, a certified applied animal behaviorist with over 20 years of experience, spoke to *Newsweek* about why some cats are such natural “copycats.”
“Cats are definitely social learners, meaning that they can observe other cats doing things and have their attention drawn to that activity,” said Delgado, who is also an affiliate member of the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior. “Many studies show that cats benefit from observing other cats.”
The delightful video continues to charm viewers, highlighting the special connection between the two feline siblings and offering a glimpse into the social behaviors of cats.
