Lake Charles, LA — The St. Huckleberry Animal Fund, in collaboration with the Wellness Pet Company, is set to provide a significant boost to local pet owners facing financial difficulties. On Friday, August 30, 2024, the organization will distribute nine pallets of premium, grain-free wet cat food, enough to support over a thousand cats.
The giveaway will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Oak Park Square Shopping Center, located next to the new Big Lots at 3202-3260 Gerstner Memorial Drive in Lake Charles. This initiative aims to ease the burden on pet parents in Southwest Louisiana, many of whom are managing tight budgets or recovering from recent natural disasters.
In addition to the food distribution, St. Huckleberry Animal Fund will host a shelter cat adoption event within the 4,200-square-foot venue. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and adopt cats from a local shelter, offering them a chance at a forever home.
The event is generously sponsored by Ryan D. “Jume” Jumonville, CEO of United Networks of America, underscoring the community’s commitment to supporting those in need.
Founded in 2021 by Lori Dover in memory of her kitten Huckleberry, the St. Huckleberry Animal Fund advocates for stronger animal cruelty laws and promotes compassionate treatment of animals.
