LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Tragedy struck in the southwest valley on August 25 when a house fire claimed the lives of six cats and severely damaged a vehicle in the garage.
The Clark County Fire Department (CCFD) responded swiftly to a distress call reporting a vehicle ablaze inside a residential garage. Upon arrival, the first responding engine crew observed thick smoke and visible flames emanating from the garage of a three-story home.
CCFD personnel conducted a thorough search of the property and confirmed that while there was no active fire inside the main living areas of the house, the interior was filled with smoke.
A substantial response was mobilized, with five engines, one ladder truck, two rescue units, two chief officers, two investigators, and one air resource unit deployed to the scene—a total of 33 fire department personnel. According to CCFD, the fire originated from the vehicle in the garage.
The blaze resulted in significant damage, with losses estimated at $100,000. Both NV Energy and Southwest Gas were on hand to assist with utility management during the incident.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported among firefighters or civilians. However, the loss of six cats in the fire adds a heartbreaking dimension to the incident.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation as officials work to determine what sparked the deadly blaze.
