Dubuque, Iowa – Whispurring Hope Rescue, a no-kill animal care shelter in Dubuque, is facing a critical shortage of supplies due to an overwhelming influx of cats and kittens. The shelter is calling for donations to help manage the current overflow and ensure the well-being of its feline residents.
The surge in cats, including numerous litters of kittens, has created an urgent need for essential cat care items such as litter, food, and funds for veterinary services. These donations are crucial as the shelter works to provide spaying and neutering services, which are included with all adoptions.
Volunteer Sherry Spahn highlighted some of the most pressing needs. “We are in constant need of litter, which is used daily, as well as fleece blankets that we repurpose into hammocks for the cats to provide them with a comfortable resting space. Additionally, financial contributions for veterinary expenses are greatly appreciated,” Spahn said.
Donations can be dropped off at 2165 Jonathan Lane, Dubuque. In addition to material donations, the shelter is actively seeking more foster homes for the cats until they can be placed in permanent homes. Volunteers are also needed to assist with the increased number of animals.
The community’s support is vital to helping Whispurring Hope Rescue continue its mission of providing care and finding loving homes for its cats.
