Indie the cat, after an eight-year adventure, has been reunited with her family in Montreal with the help of the Ottawa Humane Society.
The 11-year-old tuxedo cat was found by a passerby in Ottawa and brought to the humane society. Despite the 165-kilometre distance from Montreal, how Indie ended up in the nation’s capital remains a mystery. Stephen Smith, a spokesman for the humane society, shared that Indie was picked up in Ottawa’s Gloucester suburb last week as a stray.
Thanks to an embedded microchip, authorities were able to track down her owners in Montreal, leading to a heartwarming reunion four days ago. Smith emphasized that this fortunate reunion underscores the importance of microchipping pets, as it significantly increases the likelihood of such joyful homecomings.
