A heartwarming reunion occurred after a 7-month-old cat named “Tai Mui” was stolen from a Thai restaurant in Kowloon Bay, only to be located by police within 20 hours of the incident.
The restaurant owner reported the theft on Wednesday (Jul 17) after CCTV footage captured a long-haired woman playing with the cat around 1 am and returning an hour later to take it away. Staff discovered “Tai Mui” missing from its cage around 5 am the same morning.
In a social media plea, the owner offered a HK$5,000 reward for information leading to the cat’s return, promising no further action against the perpetrator if “Tai Mui” was safely returned. Thanks to public support and police efforts, the suspect was apprehended, and “Tai Mui” was reunited with its owner by Thursday evening.
The owner expressed gratitude for the community’s assistance in locating the beloved pet.
