Cats are famously assertive creatures, especially when other animals are involved. They have a preference for things to go their way, and if you defy them, they won’t hesitate to retaliate swiftly – often targeting ankles for their revenge.
On Tuesday, July 16th, one particularly bossy Ragdoll cat demonstrated her authority right in front of her owner. Her Golden Retriever sibling happened to obstruct her path, and she wasn’t about to let it slide:
Meredith the Ragdoll may be outnumbered by her five dog siblings, but that doesn’t diminish her dominance in the household. At 4 years old, Meredith, also known as Mae Mae, has captured hearts on her TikTok account since the height of the pandemic. Her sassy demeanor, stunning appearance, and interactions with her furry siblings have made her a favorite among followers.
Her account features regular appearances by two Pomeranians, a Golden Retriever, an English Springer Spaniel, and another unidentified dog. Among them, Meredith seems to have a particular rivalry with Kelso, the Golden Retriever, while her favorite companion is the English Springer Spaniel, Tucker. The rest of the dogs tread carefully around her!
Ragdoll cats like Meredith are renowned for their gentle, easygoing nature. Their name comes from their tendency to go limp when picked up or handled, reflecting their relaxed demeanor. This disposition typically extends to interactions with dogs, provided they are introduced early and properly socialized. Mae Mae may assert her authority, but she genuinely cares for all her siblings, despite her occasional displays of bossiness.
Even the most dog-friendly cats can show their claws, especially if a dog:
- Approaches them unexpectedly.
- Tries to share toys, food, or water.
- Interferes with something the cat deems important.
- Breathes too heavily in their vicinity.
Cats, including Mae Mae, are often at their grumpiest when waking up, before meals, and at bedtime. Providing them with plenty of quiet time throughout the day helps prevent them from becoming overwhelmed and irritable.
