Emergency crews responded to a distress call regarding an injured cat in a York village late last night (July 10). The incident occurred on a road off Heslington Road, prompting the North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service into action.
According to a spokesperson from the service, they were contacted by a concerned member of the public after their cat, named Seaweed, was struck by a car. Following the impact, the injured cat fled and sought refuge in the engine compartment of another parked car.
Firefighters from York swiftly intervened, successfully extracting Seaweed from the vehicle and ensuring the cat was safely reunited with its owners. Seaweed is now slated to receive veterinary care for suspected injuries to its rear leg and pelvis.
