SOLEDAD, Calif. — SPCA Monterey County is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual responsible for shooting a cat.
On July 4, 2024, a young brown tabby cat was discovered on Crestfield Street near Soledad High School with a pellet gun wound to her leg. The injury resulted in a shattered bone in her right front leg, necessitating amputation.
Named Libby, the cat is currently receiving care, including soft bedding, fresh water, nutritious food, and plenty of affection to aid in her recovery.
“We hope this reward will encourage someone to come forward with information,” said Gio Rodriguez, SPCA Humane Investigations Officer. “This poor cat endured a painful and inhumane injury. Our aim is to identify the person responsible to prevent similar incidents in the future.”
Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact the SPCA at 831-373-2631. All calls will be kept confidential.
