Earlier this year, a cat that bravely escaped from a burning apartment in Edmonton has been welcomed into a new home.
Video footage captured the feline leaping from a balcony on the third floor of a Jasper Avenue apartment building on April 25th, amidst a raging fire in the unit. Firefighters, responding promptly, rescued a man trapped on the same balcony using a ladder truck.
Following the incident, the cat was put up for adoption in May after its owner did not come forward to claim it. Recently, Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) announced that the resilient cat, now affectionately named Jasper, has been adopted by one of their dispatchers.
Despite enduring the ordeal of the fire, Jasper is reportedly in good health. EFRS noted that his whiskers were singed and a patch of fur on his back was burned off during the blaze.
The heartwarming adoption of Jasper highlights a positive outcome from a distressing event, with the brave cat now settled into a caring new environment.
