Firefighters and RSPCA personnel collaborated in a rescue operation to save Coco the cat, who was stranded for nearly two days on the rooftop of a three-story building on Gravel Lane in Wilmslow, Cheshire, at the end of June.
RSPCA inspector Lisa Lupson described the challenging situation: Coco had been stuck on the roof for about 36 hours despite attempts to coax her down with food. Due to the height of the building, the owner became increasingly concerned, prompting the involvement of fire and rescue services.
Efforts to reach Coco initially frightened her further, but with the owner’s assistance using a cherry picker and guidance from the RSPCA, she was successfully rescued using specialized equipment.
Reflecting on the rescue, Lisa Lupson emphasized the importance of partnership between agencies and thanked the owner for her cooperation and gratitude. Coco promptly returned home, showing her appreciation in her own feline way.
Lisa encouraged the public to assist smaller trapped animals whenever possible, providing resources and guides to aid in safe and effective rescues.
Through collaborative efforts and community support, stories like Coco’s highlight the compassion and dedication of animal-lovers in creating a safer environment for all creatures.
