A distressing discovery was made at a Glen Park home used by a rescue organization for abandoned cats, where a large number of dead cats were found. Barbara Patrick, manager of Kloof & Highway SPCA, explained that they conducted a search after receiving community complaints and obtaining court permission.
“We found about 20 cats who had died in their cages. All the cats inside the house had perished, and there are a few outside in bags, though the exact number is still unclear,” Patrick said.
Marshall Security, responding to the scene, described it as horrific, with carcasses in various stages of decomposition scattered around the severely neglected property. Andreas Mathios from Marshall Security noted that the responsible tenant, who lived in a granny flat at the back of the main property, has since disappeared.
Patrick emphasized they lack full details about the organization or house owner involved. “We are awaiting SAPS to arrive at the scene and will pursue charges for animal cruelty,” she added.
