CHARLESTON, S.C. – Pet Helpers, a Charleston-based animal shelter, is stepping up to assist local pet owners facing financial strain due to inflation by offering free dog and cat beds.
Partnering with Chewy and the Humane Society of the United States, Pet Helpers received 43 pallets of supplies, including beds, to distribute to the community. The initiative aims to support families who are struggling to afford essential pet supplies, which has led to an increase in animal surrenders.
“We’re incredibly grateful to Chewy and the Humane Society of the United States for making events like this possible,” said Melissa Susko, Executive Director at Pet Helpers. “Their generous donations enable us to provide vital resources to our community during these challenging times.”
Pet owners can visit Pet Helpers located at 1447 Folly Road between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily to receive free dog and cat beds, while supplies last. A valid photo ID is required for participation. The shelter also runs a community food bank program to assist with pet feeding needs.
