PORTLAND, Ore. – A Portland cat named Kevin has made a full recovery after a sewing needle lodged in his mouth and impaled his nasal cavity.
Kevin was initially taken to an urgent care clinic due to vomiting and difficulty swallowing. He was then referred to DoveLewis, where the needle was discovered. According to DoveLewis, Kevin had snuck into a child’s room with a sewing project and curiosity led him to the needle, which impaled his hard palate and nasal cavity, causing significant discomfort and danger.
Veterinarians at DoveLewis sedated Kevin and gently removed the needle, which had been pressing against the base of his tongue. Dr. Hannah Marshall, a DoveLewis Critical Care Specialist, emphasized the importance of immediate and expert veterinary intervention in such cases.
Kevin’s family reported that he has fully recovered and is back to his curious antics.
