Police in Angus have launched an investigation after two cats were discovered with severe eye injuries in the Brechin area. The incidents, which occurred between April 29 and May 20 within the vicinity of Latch Road and Provost Millar Avenue, have raised concerns about potential animal cruelty.
One of the injured cats was found to have a hex nut lodged in its eye socket upon receiving medical treatment from a veterinarian. This discovery has led authorities to suspect that the cats may have been targeted with a projectile weapon, such as a catapult.
Constable Batard from Brechin Police Office expressed concern over the incidents, stating, “When one of the cats was treated by a vet, a hex nut was found in an eye socket suggesting that something similar to a catapult was used to injure the cats.”
The police are urging anyone with information regarding these incidents to come forward and assist with their investigation. The welfare of animals in the community is of utmost importance, and such acts of cruelty will not be tolerated.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Brechin Police Office or Crimestoppers anonymously.
