In Kalyan (east), a heartwarming rescue mission unfolded as a cat, affectionately named Ladoo, was saved from a 30-foot-deep drain after being stranded there for six days. The cat had tumbled into the drain in the Lokgram locality while fleeing from stray dogs in the neighborhood.
Nilesh Bhange, founder of PAWS, an animal welfare NGO, received a distress call from a local feeder, Gaurav Samarth, alerting him about the stranded cat. Despite the feeder’s efforts to lower food down to the cat using a basket and rope, the feline remained traumatized and distressed, refusing to eat.
Upon receiving the call, Bhange swiftly dispatched two PAWS volunteers, Abhishek Singh and Reema Deshpande, to the scene. Singh and Deshpande found the cat in a pitiable state, visibly scared and hungry.
With determination, the volunteers descended into the drain using a rope and successfully rescued the frightened cat, securing it in a plastic basket. This heartening rescue effort showcases the power of compassion and teamwork in saving vulnerable animals in distress.
