Over the weekend, more kittens were discovered at Kennywood amusement park in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, marking the second consecutive week of feline rescues.
Rescue and Relax, an organization dedicated to animal welfare, received word on Saturday that a ride in Kiddieland had been closed due to a kitten taking shelter underneath it. The rescue, already familiar with the park from their previous weekend’s efforts, promptly mobilized to the scene. Last weekend, they had successfully captured a mother cat and her litter of kittens.
In a Facebook post, Rescue and Relax revealed that a local trapper was dispatched to Kennywood to locate the kitten and any others that might be in need of assistance. The trapper’s efforts resulted in the capture of a mother cat along with three kittens. Although a fourth kitten remained elusive, the rescue assured followers that they would return the following morning to rescue it.
Additionally, there have been reports of a black tomcat occasionally roaming the park, prompting the rescue to shift their focus towards locating and sterilizing the animal.
The previous weekend’s rescue efforts also yielded significant attention and support from the community, resulting in donations. However, Rescue and Relax emphasized that they still require essential supplies such as wet food, dry food, kitten milk replacer, and litter to continue their mission of aiding animals in need.
The organization reiterated the importance of reuniting kittens with their families whenever possible, stressing that many rescues work tirelessly to ensure that kittens can grow up alongside their mothers and siblings.
Meanwhile, an off-duty trooper was arrested on burglary and aggravated assault charges, unrelated to the kitten rescue efforts.
