Midland Animal Services finds itself bustling with feline activity as the spring season ushers in an abundance of kittens in Texas. Melissa Griffin-Hobson, the manager of Midland Animal Services, highlights the importance of spaying and neutering cats during this breeding season, which typically spans from March to September.
“This is the breeding season for cats, from spring to fall. It’s crucial for us to spay and neuter cats and find them loving homes during this time,” explains Griffin-Hobson.
For those considering adopting a feline companion but unsure whether to choose an adult cat or a kitten, Griffin-Hobson offers valuable insights. Adult cats, she notes, are ideal for families with smaller children as their personalities are already developed, allowing families to assess compatibility. On the other hand, kittens bring joy and affection but require more attention and time, making them suitable for individuals who can dedicate ample time to their care.
To encourage adoption, Midland Animal Services is waiving the adoption fee for adult cats during specific dates: May 28th, May 30th to June 1st. All cats available for adoption will come vaccinated and microchipped, ensuring a seamless transition into their new homes.
Griffin-Hobson’s emphasis on responsible pet ownership and the importance of finding loving homes for cats underscores the shelter’s commitment to animal welfare amidst the spring kitten season.
