St. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A disturbing pattern of violence against pets has left one woman in St. Johns County grieving the loss of her beloved cat, Pixie, after it was shot by a pellet gun in her front yard. Dana Pimental, the distraught owner, expresses shock and sorrow as Pixie becomes the third feline in two years to fall victim to such senseless cruelty.
Recalling the harrowing ordeal, Pimental recounts rushing Pixie to the emergency vet, initially believing the cat had been struck by a car. However, tests revealed the true cause: a pellet gun had pierced Pixie’s back, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down. The heartbreaking diagnosis forced Pimental to make the agonizing decision to euthanize her beloved companion.
Tragically, this is not an isolated incident for Pimental. In October 2023, her cat Zoey suffered a similar fate after being shot by a pellet gun, while a year prior, another of her cats met a fatal end after being shot while perched on the roof. Only Fluffernutter, shot on Christmas Eve 2022, managed to survive the attack.
Despite reporting these incidents to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, Pimental remains haunted by unanswered questions. With three of her cats targeted in her own yard, she grapples with the mystery of who could commit such heinous acts and why.
In a bid for justice and closure, the Pimentals are offering a $600 reward for any information regarding the incidents. Those with pertinent details are urged to reach out to Dana Pimental via email at [email protected].
The disturbing series of cat shootings has not only left a community in mourning but has also sparked concerns among pet owners about the safety of their beloved animals. As investigations continue, residents remain vigilant, hoping for swift action to prevent further harm to innocent pets.
