In a heartwarming turn of events, the BC SPCA has come to the rescue of a mama cat and her newborn kitten on the Sunshine Coast. The organization recently disclosed that Fay, a 10-month-old cat, along with her two-day-old kitten, Ray, were surrendered to the shelter due to their urgent need for medical attention.
According to reports from the BC SPCA, Fay and Ray were brought to the shelter by an owner who found themselves unable to afford veterinary care. Upon examination, it was revealed that Fay was suffering from a prolapsed uterus, a serious medical condition that required immediate surgical intervention.
Marika Donnelly, manager of the Sunshine Coast animal center, shared the distressing details of Fay’s condition, stating that she had endured two days of suffering before being brought in for help. Fay’s situation was dire, with the cat on the verge of sepsis, necessitating an emergency caesarean to save her life.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the owner made the difficult decision to surrender Fay into the care of the BC SPCA. Meanwhile, Ray, the newborn kitten, was transferred to a foster home where she could receive round-the-clock care, including bottle-feeding, to ensure her health and well-being.
The BC SPCA has since stepped in to provide the necessary medical treatment for Fay and ensure that both she and Ray receive the care and attention they need. The organization remains committed to finding loving forever homes for Fay and Ray, where they can thrive and receive the love and care they deserve.
