Authorities in Butler County are offering a $250 reward for information leading to the positive identification of a suspect involved in a disturbing cat cruelty case at an apartment complex in Hamilton.
The Butler County Sheriff’s Office initiated efforts on social media to identify an individual seen capturing a cat and violently slamming it to the ground at the Indian Springs apartments on Hampshire Drive in Hamilton. The distressing incident occurred on January 24 at 9 p.m. The severely injured cat was discovered by deputy dog wardens behind the complex and, unfortunately, had to be euthanized.
In a recent update, the BCSO released new photos of the suspect, indicating that he returned to the apartment complex early last week and appeared to be surveilling the security cameras. While the suspect retained the same coat and shoes, he sported a recent haircut in the updated images.
Last week, Sheriff Jones described the disturbing footage, mentioning that the man was observed on video chasing the cat into the building stairwell and capturing it in a trash bag before brutally slamming it to the ground. The injured cat was discarded behind the building, suffering a fractured pelvis and spine, ultimately requiring euthanasia. Authorities are actively seeking justice for this heinous act and are relying on the public’s assistance to identify the responsible individual.
