The RSPCA has launched an appeal for information after a deceased cat was discovered hanging from a fence in a Walsall car park, with concerns that the animal might have been in that position for an extended period.
A member of the public made the unsettling discovery last Thursday on Harden Road, prompting the animal welfare charity to seek assistance in understanding the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to Rachel Ward from the RSPCA, the cat had already passed away and started decomposing when found. The exact cause of its demise remains unclear, raising questions about whether it was already deceased before being hung on the fence or if it was the victim of a deliberate act of cruelty.
Ms. Ward, who removed the cat and took it to a vet for examination, expressed concern about the potential duration of the feline’s presence in that location: “The cat could have been dead for several weeks or even months. The cat didn’t have a microchip but was wearing a pink collar, and she seems like a younger cat from the teeth.”
The circumstances surrounding the cat’s death are suspicious, prompting the RSPCA to urge anyone with information or who might have witnessed anything unusual to come forward. Authorities are particularly interested in locating the cat’s owner to shed light on this distressing incident.
