Chatham, Kent – A distressing incident of animal abandonment unfolded in Kent as a family of cats was discovered abandoned in a local woodland without access to food or water, the RSPCA reports.
The harrowing discovery included a male adult cat, a female adult cat, and two vulnerable kittens, all confined in cat carriers. This heart-wrenching incident occurred on a scorching Monday when temperatures in Chatham soared to 26°C (79°F).
RSPCA Inspector Kirsten Ormerod expressed deep concern, stating, “It is truly disheartening that these unfortunate cats were abandoned during hot weather conditions, deprived of essential sustenance such as food and water.”
The exact duration of their abandonment remains unknown, but their condition upon rescue painted a grim picture. Ormerod described the female adult cat as emaciated and likely pregnant, while the two kittens were infested with fleas and plagued by worms.
However, there is a glimmer of hope in this somber tale as Ormerod noted, “Thankfully they are all now in the care of the RSPCA and are showing signs of steady recovery.”
In the wake of this heartless abandonment, the RSPCA is making a fervent appeal for any information regarding the individuals responsible for this act of cruelty.
