A prolific cat burglar named Gingee, a four-year-old Maine Coon, has been apprehended in Buckley, Flintshire, after a series of thefts in the neighborhood. The feline thief had been pilfering various items from nearby homes, surprising her owners, Jay Phoenix, 43, and Mathew Westlake-Toms, 31.
The list of stolen items includes a child’s spade from a sandpit, a pair of goggles, and even a sieve, according to Jay. The crime spree began a few months ago when Jay and Mathew noticed scissors and sticky tape missing while they were wrapping gifts.
Gingee expanded her treasure trove to include items from neighboring homes, such as football cones for training. The couple installed a night vision camera in the kitchen, capturing Gingee delivering a knife to their bedroom.
Jay described the shocking moment when he discovered the knife, saying, “My partner woke up around 8am, opened the door, and it was like something from a horror scene, she was lying on the floor with a knife in front of her. I was absolutely amazed.”
The couple has appealed on community social media platforms for owners to claim their stolen items, but so far, not much has been retrieved, leaving a growing pile of illicit property at their home.
Despite her criminal activities, Gingee has gained popularity on social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok, becoming a viral sensation with thousands of followers and millions of views.
